Prepare for a revolution in social media marketing

Thursday, November 11th, 2010

by Jeremy Last

A groundbreaking product, developed by Israel’s on-line marketing service provider Valueshine, is set to revolutionize the way social media is utilized by the corporate world. Valueshine’s Tier-x software enables companies to turn every customer into a business partner, generating their own profits through the power of social media networking. These partners are able to bring in more customers, and earn money, through the simple marketing power of personal recommendations. Customers use social networks such as Facebook and Myspace as well as email accounts like YahooMail and GMail to invite friends to join their mini-network. The gaming industry has been the first to jump in. Six months after Tier-x’s January launch, Valueshine has already built a bespoke version for leading online poker site Noblepoker.com, owned by British-based Internet gaming conglomerate PartyGaming. Called the Noble Partners Program, it is the first time ever that players are able to earn consistent dividends from online poker even when they’re not playing. This innovation is taking the Internet gambling world by storm. http://www.israel21c.org/201011118503/technology/prepare-for-a-revolution-in-social-media-marketing

The new study, “The Massachusetts-Israel Economic Relationship,” conducted by Stax Inc., an independent global strategy consulting firm, shows the impact of Israeli innovation and entrepreneurship on the Commonwealth’s economy, and underscores the importance of Israeli relations to the state, especially in the area of life sciences and high-tech. Highlights of the study include: Nearly 100 companies in Massachusetts are founded by Israelis or offer products based on Israeli technology. These businesses generated $2.4 billion in direct revenue in Massachusetts in 2009. In total, the direct and indirect revenue impact on the Massachusetts economy was $7.8 billion. From an employment perspective, these businesses directly generated 5,920 jobs in Massachusetts. Some 50% of these businesses focus on information technology, 29% are in life sciences, and the remainder in other industries. Israeli entrepreneurs chose Massachusetts over other US destinations to launch or grow their enterprises due to the deep talent pool of educated workers, the opportunity to be part of an industry cluster, world class universities and outstanding business infrastructure. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3971791,00.html

Targeting tumors without the pain of radiation

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

by ISRAEL21c Staff

Scientists from Israel are developing a new way to destroy cancerous tumors that will have fewer side effects than traditional radiation therapy, and cause minimal damage to surrounding tissue. The innovative method developed by a professor at Tel Aviv University uses heat to kill the tumor cells, while leaving the surrounding healthy tissue intact. Today, radiation therapy is one of the most important weapons against cancerous tumors, but the therapy can have a significant impact on the health of a patient as it harms healthy tissue as well as malignant cells. Patients often experience anything from nausea to hair loss, fatigue, skin irritation, and a lowered white blood cell count. Prof. Israel Gannot, whose method is soon to be published in the journal Nanomedicine, uses a special mixture of nano-particles – already approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) – and antibodies to locate individual tumors and bind directly to them. http://www.israel21c.org/201010138444/health/targeting-tumors-without-the-pain-of-radiation
