Israel's ECI Telecom gets broadband deal in Romania

ECI Telecom (NASDAQ: ECIL) today announced that it has signed a contract with Atlas Telecom Romania to expand their broadband network.

This three-year contract will provide Atlas Telecom Romania with the ability to cost-effectively offer triple play and IPTV services.

ECI will provide its Hi-FOCuS(TM)5 IP DSLAM platform to support Atlas Telecom's applications to both residential and business subscribers. ECI's ADSL2+ based equipment will be co-located in the central offices of the incumbent operator in Romania, to support residential services.

ECI's outside plant solution will be installed within Atlas Telecom's own street cabinets, using VDSL2 line cards, to support business subscribers. In addition, ECI will supply a wide selection of customer premise equipment, to support all applications required by Atlas and its subscribers.

"ECI's flexibility, responsiveness and complete set of platforms were key as we could identify the appropriate solutions for our diverse needs."
