Zoran buys image enhancement co Let It Wave
Zoran Corp. has acquired French fabless semiconductor company Let It Wave for up to $27.6 million in cash. The acquisition is due to be closed next week. Let It Wave has patent-pending technology for video frame rate conversion and image enhancement capabilities for flat panel televisions and other consumer electronics products.

L Capital firm bought by Novartis
US-Israeli venture capital fund L Capital Partners, founded by managing partner Jonathan Leitersdorf, has sold portfolio company Protez Pharmaceuticals Inc. to Swiss giant Novartis AG for up to $400 million. $100 million will be paid immediately and an additional $300 million will be paid upon reaching milestones and in royalties on successful products.

VMware buys Israeli BTM start-up B-hive
Virtualization solutions developer VMware Inc. will acquire Israeli start-up B-hive Networks Inc. for several tens of millions of dollars. B-hive's R&D facility and team will form the core of VMware's new development center in Israel. The acquisition will be completed during the third quarter of 2008.

IAC buys Israel's StarNet Interactive
Israeli Internet start-up StarNet Interactive Ltd., owner of GirlSense a website for teenage girls, has been acquired by IAC Consumer Applications & Portals a division of US media group IAC/Interactive Corp., headed by Barry Diller. StarNet was founded by Cathy Glazer, the wife of Dr. Joshua Glazer, founder of start-up Gteko, which was acquired by Microsoft Corp. in November 2006. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. IAC Consumer Applications owns, among assets, Zwinky - a virtual world for teenagers.
