Electrical cars project to be built in Sha'ar Hayarden
Shai Agasi, former co-president of SAP, has started work on his and Stef Wertheimer's electrical cars pilot project, Yedioth Ahronot published Thursday. Agasi plans to build a factory in the Sha'ar Hayarden industrial area and presented his plans to prominent figures in the financial community, as well as to the Finance Ministry's Accountant-General, Yaron Zalicha. Joining the electrical car venture will be Asian car manufacturers Nissan and Toyota.

General Motors set to open R&D center in Israel
Sources inform “Globes” that General Motors Corporation is in advanced negotiations to establish an R&D center in Israel with an initial investment of tens of millions of dollars. The center is expected to employ hundreds of engineers and researchers in various fields related to GM’s activities worldwide, including the development of alternative driving systems, vehicle electronics and communications systems, robotics, advanced materials, imaging systems, and safety. The R&D center will probably be set up in Ra’anana and will have branches in outlying areas and development towns.

Israeli Company Working on Flying Car for Military, Rescue
Rafi Yoeli already has gotten a rudimentary vehicle off the ground — about three feet — and hopes to see a marketable version of his X-Hawk flying car by 2010.
Although his dream might seem far-fetched, Textron Inc.'s (TXT) Bell Helicopters is taking a serious look, teaming with Yoeli's privately held Urban Aeronautics to explore X-Hawk's potential.

GM buying more from Israeli firms
General Motors purchased USD 102 million worth of products from Israeli companies in 2005, a 32 percent increase compared to 2004. Purchases last year show a significant increase since earlier years, which totaled USD 73 million in 2003 and USD 60 million in 2002. Currently there are 16 Israeli companies that supply General Motors with goods and services, three of which made sales of over USD 2.5 million to GM and 12 of which sold over USD 1 million to the company. In 2005 Tier 1 purchases from suppliers summed about USD 71.5 million.
