Israel
Baharav is the Managing
Director in Israel for STEP Strategy Advisors. Israel has a rich background in management, technology,
and capital formation and brings his expertise to strategize on the
company structure and development to ensure successful outcomes.
Israel
was previously
the Executive Chairman of Idanit in Israel , a world leader in large
format printing. Israel led Idanit from inception in 1995 through its
acquisition by publicly traded Scitex Corporation Ltd., a leader in
digital imaging technologies. Israel was previously the Executive Chairman
for Objet Technologies, a developer of three-dimensional network printers,
which he founded in 1998 and guided through 2001 including product development
and initial funding rounds, ultimately raising over $30 million in capital.
Israel
was previously the Managing Director of Mirage, an investment company
publicly traded on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange.
Israel
advised on
the capital formation of Healinx, an Internet-based doctor-patient communication
services, enabling secure, clinically structured, auditable communications
between doctors and patients. Healinx is used by Kaiser Permanente,
Blue Shield of California, National Data Corp, and other leading healthcare
organizations and it has become a popular online prescription tool.
Since Healinx's founding in January 1999, Healinx has attracted more
than $36 million in funding. The venture firms include U.S. Venture
Partners, Venrock Associates, SI Venture Management (a Gartner Group
affiliate), Genesis Partners (a CIBC World Markets venture arm), and
Concord Ventures.
Israel
served for
30 years in the Israel Air Force, retiring from service as Brigadier
General. During his term of service, he was a front line fighter pilot
as well as Squadron Leader. Subsequently, he held executive and
operational roles within the Israel Defense Forces, including Head of
Air Force Intelligence, Defense Attaché for Austria and Switzerland,
and Head of IDF Strategic Planning. In this latter role, Israel led
a team establishing and defining the Israel-US Strategic Cooperation
framework.
Israel is a recipient of the Distinguished Service Medal from the President
of Israel for his leadership and command over his squadron following
the death in action of the squadron's commander in the 1973 Yom Kippur
War. Israel is an Ace Pilot of Israel and has shot down twelve MIG 21s
ranking him as one of the world leaders in MIG 21 shoot downs.
Israel
is a graduate
of the Royal Air Force Staff College and holds a BA in History with
Honors from the Tel Aviv University and an MA in Political Science and
Business Administration from Haifa University.
